We got lucky twice this season with Tony's friends amazing Lakers seats! I took Kathy to the first game - here's Luca cracking a smile after
finally accepting the fact that he only gets Slurpees when he's with Daddy!
Then we got to go to a first round playoff game, which was very exciting for about the first 5 minutes, but then the Lakers got blown out :( Luca was happy, though, because Tony let him wear his Thor hat and tied the giveaway t-shirt around his neck like a cape!

Cheese Please
Like a good little Italian, Luca loves his pasta...and like his Paca, he piles on the cheese! One night, as I stopped him from putting spoonfuls of cheese on his pasta, he said, "But I need to make a house of cheese!" I finally got him his own personal cheese shaker, where only a little bit pours out of the circle on top each time...now I just have to hope he doesn't figure out how much MORE comes out when you pour from the other side!
Flashlight Fanatic
You might say we have a slight obsession with flashlights over here! Day or night, Luca can entertain himself for hours with them; during the day, we hide under the covers, hiding from Dr. Doom (because "bad guys don't have flashlights, so they can't find us in the dark!"). And at night, he has them chasing each other on the ceiling. I love how simple things can become the best toys!
P.S. Here's some hilarious audio of Luca on our drive home from Mimi and Paca's one night after Paca duped Luca into thinking he gave him all of his flashlights to take home with him...Monday, April 22, 2013
My Growing Bump
Well, so far, the biggest difference between my first and second pregnancy is that I have FAR less time to blog about it! The toughest thing about this time around is keeping up with a boisterous two year-old! When I was pregnant with Luca, if I was tired, I just put my feet up. When I try to tell Luca "Mommy's tired," he just tells me "Mommy's not tired! Mommy wants to PLAY!" The other big difference this time is that I got big VERY quickly, starting to show at 2 months instead of 4 - I guess the body knows the drill and just decides not to be coy about it!
Other differences, let's see...much more tired and more nauseous, and I felt the first kicks at 16 weeks, which was probably 2 or 3 weeks earlier than the first time. With Luca, I could tell you exactly how far along I was in weeks and days, whereas now I just go by months.
The most fun part about this pregnancy, of course, is watching Luca's gradual understanding of what's going on here and the questions he's asking. He asked me "Who put the baby in your tummy?" To which I easily answered, "Daddy put the baby in my tummy!" But then he caught me off guard when he came back the next day asking "Where did Daddy get the baby?" To which I responded, "Umm, why don't you ask him?!"
One night, Tony asked Luca, "Do you want a brother or a sister?" And he responded, "I want a dog!" Then another time, I started to explain to him how I was going to need his help with the baby when the baby will cry and he sweetly said that he would bring the baby a baba, a pillow, and a blanket.
I've also told him that he will be able to help me teach the baby how to do things because the baby will not know how to do much at first, to which he excitedly volunteered, "I will teach the baby how to walk and to talk and the baby will say "Hey look, I'm talking!" Now, I realize, this whole "new baby" thing is not going to go over well with Luca from the get-go, but at least I feel like we're laying some good groundwork :)

Indiana Luca
Tony read about an Indiana Jones exhibit at the Discovery Science Center, so we ventured out on Sunday for the last day it would be there. Very cool set-up with tons of movie props and favorite scenes from the famous trilogy. Luca was actually very interested! He especially loved all of the interactive stuff, where he could climb a rock wall and dig for fossils. There were lots of other fun features of the place, too - including a Bob the Builder room and a "Science of Hockey" exhibit!

2013 Lancer Classic
This year was one of the most fun Lancer Classics ever because one of the honorees was from the Class of '95, Daylon McCutcheon! It was so wonderful to see fellow classmates come to show Daylon so much support! I got to MC the event again, which was really fun - and total justification to splurge on maternity formal wear :)
So happy to have Kathy joining us as an honorary Lancer for the night! And I love that I get mistaken for Catherine at least once at every Amat event :)

Leaping Luca
Luca is soooo much fun to take to birthday part- ies these days! This one was maybe the most fun we've been to yet - a gymnastics party with a balloon artist! He never stopped moving the whole time, darting from one apparatus to the next, practicing somersaults, and jumping on trampolines.
Tony stopped by for a bit in between his hockey games, long enough to fill Luca's healthy lunch plate with Cheetos and candies that I purposely left off his plate :/ After lunch and cupcakes, the balloon artist made the most amazing creations for the kids, including pirate swords for the boys - Luca was in heaven!
