Hockey's Back!

After a very depressing lockout delayed the start of the hockey season, we are happy to be BACK at Staples again to watch our Stanley Cup Champions!  Our first game back was against Nashville and we even brought William and Nolan.  Unfortunately, the Kings are not playing much like champions, but fortunately for us Luca IS!  Last year, it was a challenge to keep him interested/preoccupied for an entire game, taking many breaks to let him run around by the concessions, rotating ipad apps, etc, but this year, he is a new man!  He was an absolute angel through the entire game, including overtime and a shoot-out!  And here is a brief cameo on the Fan Cam...

Faith, Trust, and a LOT of Pixie Dust!

Only Disney could manage to get 10,000+ women this excited to be up and out in running shoes at 4:30 in the morning!  When I signed up for the Tinkerbell 1/2 Marathon back in June, I hadn't predicted I would be 3 months pregnant on race day! 

But this race is just TOO fun (and too expensive!) to back out of, so I took it easy, having a GREAT time, coming in at 2:48:02.  Pretty painful to see that time next to my name, when I was previously aiming for a sub 2 hour time, but c'est la vie!  The good news is that I should have NO problem improving next year!  Cat, whose arm I basically had to twist to run with me and did no training whatsover came in at 1:56:28, I'm so jealous! 

Poor thing had to wait for me in the cold for almost an hour after she finished!  I love her!  The course was really awesome this year, almost the entire first half ran through the parks and Downtown Disney...and the MEDAL makes it ALL worth it!

Santa Monica Weekender

A fun weekend in Santa Monica with Kathy and Kelly to celebrate Kathy's birthday...we stayed in a suite at the new Shore Hotel, went for beautiful long walks all over Santa Monica, had drinks and appetizers at Blue Plate Taco, dinner at Tar & Roses, and brunch in Venice on Main Street.  A perfect staycation in the city!

It's official!  Like it or not, Luca is going to be a big brother this Summer!  Current due date is July 29th and so far I am feeling great...

Tony made me a deal that if we didn't find out the sex in advance with the first one, I could, but he was right - and I HATE admitting when he is right, but - it WAS more fun not knowing, so we are waiting with this one, too!

Luca's Day Out With Paca, Aunt Cat, and Zio Greg

Last week, Cat and Greg spoiled Luca with attention at Mimi's house one day while Paca was at work, seeming to edge him out of the coveted spot as "Luca's favorite."  Well, Paca decided this cannot be, so he brought out the big guns and took Luca out for a full fun day of riding trains in Torrance and then trucks in Fontana at Paca's work.  And lucky for Luca, Aunt Cat and Zio Greg came, too!  Talk about a BIG day of fun for a litttle guy...!  He, of course, refused to take his Thor hat off the whole day...my favorite part of the video is when he and Greg pretend they are sleeping :)

 

Roses Are Red

My first Rose Bowl!  Gotta admit, I was really hoping to be there watching my Bruins this year, but we came up one game short.
Still, it was quite a thrill to cheer on the PAC-12,and we were grateful to be invited by some of Tony's friends who went to Stanford.  Fortunately, Gregory gave me a Catholic U Cardinals t-shirt for Christmas, so it passed for Stanford Cardinal attire.  Maybe next year, Bruins!
