Luca Goes to Hawaii

Lucky for us, our first family vacation came a lot earlier than I would have imagined when Billy and Nancy decided to get married in MAUI!  The plane ride seemed like an eternity with a very restless Luca, but once we got to the Kahana Sunset, there were plenty of hands to pass him off to and we could relax!
The wedding was absolutely beautiful, at the Olowalu Plantation House in Lahaina.  So fun to have so many of us out there to celebrate!  Click HERE for more of the pics and HERE for all of them.
Below is a video clip of Luca trying Hawaiian Shave ice :)

Plastic Starfish is the New Rubber Ducky

Luca loves his new starfish sprinkler bath toy...until it squirts him in the face, that is!

How Much Is That Baby In The Mirror?

I never get tired of watching Luca play with the baby in the mirror - especially when he tries to hold his hand or kiss him...sometimes, he gets frustrated, though - like the baby in the mirror should come out to play with him...too funny!

INXS Date Night

Dinner at Sushi Eyaki, followed by an INXS concert at the Wiltern - perfect date night! They are such a fun band to watch live - all 5 are original band members and they had several singers throughout the night, including JD Fortune, who we watched win Rockstar: INXS several years ago. They did some really cool renditions of their songs, including "Don't Change" as well as traditional favorites like "By My Side." I could have listened to them play for 5 more hours!

Gerber Baby

Luca is a very good eater so far, happily trying all of the fruits and vegetables I have put in front of him which, so far, have come from a baby food container from the grocery store. Well, tonight I decided to make him some squash from Nonna's garden. Let's just say he was not a fan of Mommy's cooking...the funny thing is that it seriously looks like he is trying to pretend to like it so as not to hurt my feelings! What a sweetheart!

Luca and His Furry Sister Daisy

With each passing month, Luca grows more and more interested in Daisy - usually in open-mouthed awe of her, actually. She is so good with him - letting him pet her and poke at her. Once he even pulled out a fist full of her hair and she didn't complain at all. Whenever I put a blanket down for Luca, she assumes it's for her - but Luca doesn't mind, because he'd rather crawl all over the unblanketed part of the floor anyway! They are always hanging out together no matter what we are doing - she even comes into the bathroom while he's taking a bath. They are such cute little pals! Now if only I can continue to keep him out of her food...!

Playing Past His Bedtime

After putting Luca down tonight, I went on to make myself some dinner, but just as I was about to take a bite of my sandwich, I heard some noise coming from his room. Here is the mischief that I found, footage courtesy of the night vision monitor : )

First Haircut

Luca doesn't have a whole lotta hair, but what he does have was starting to grow straight over his ears and unevenly in back, instead of curling into ringlets, so Nonno attempted to give him his first haircut. He started with the electric trimmer, but Luca wouldn't sit still, constantly turning from side to side to hear where the buzzing sound was coming from, so we had to switch (carefully!) to scissors...in the end, he got a great little trim!

Congratulations, Nick and Rebecca!

Nick and Rebecca had a beautiful wedding at Etiwanda Gardens in Rancho Cucamonga. They make such a cute couple!
Luca was on very good behavior, well entertained by Uncle Paul and Aunt Erin. I love the dressy outfit but barefoot look : )

We got some great family shots and Luca got to meet a lot of extended family and friends for the first time.

Catherine and Angela were beautiful bridesmaids and Angela gave one of the sweetest sister of the groom speeches ever.

Everything was so lovely and they even had a cookie table! We never did round all of us up for a picture, but here is most of us!

Luca was soooo tired by the end of the night, finally conking out at about 9:45

Bath Time = Best Time

This month, bath time became two things: more fun and more important...more fun, because Luca has graduated to the "big baby" inflatable tub and is now playing with all kinds of bath toys... more important, because the little rugrat now spends all day scooting all over the house like a little human Roomba!
We can no longer skip a day in between baths...but who'd want to, 'cuz they're so much fun!

Luca's 1st Dodger Game

Tony and I went to a Dodger game last year when I was pregnant and Tony bought a tiny "My 1st Dodgers Tee" shirt - that Luca got to wear tonight! The little guy was such a trooper, staying out WAY past his bedtime...he only cried briefly when the roar of the crowd scared him, but he snapped out of it quickly and was so fun and happy for the whole game. He even made friends with the NY fans sitting behind us! He really liked the 7th inning stretch and getting to play with mommy's empty wine glass. By about 9:15 the Dodgers were up 5-0 and his battery started to wear down so we took off - he was asleep before we even left the parking lot...I love my little Dodger fan!

Une Nuit Française...in LA

For Mom's 60th birthday, we planned "Une Nuit Française...in LA!"
We had fabulous French cuisine at Kendall's Brasserie and then chasséd over to the Ahmanson Theater for Les Miserables. So fun to go out on her ACTUAL birthday, too!
